Connor Beard, a Spirit On-Site Tech and Ennovar team member, is pursuing a degree in Applied Science, Computer Support Specialist and is set to graduate in December 2024. In his role with Ennovar, Connor assists Wichita-based Spirit employees with hardware issues, deploys new equipment, handles tier-two help desk issues, and manages the walk-in help desk.
Reflecting on his time at Ennovar, Connor emphasizes how it has shaped his professional and personal growth. “Ennovar has helped me personally by allowing me to see and work with others in the tech field that have become friends and may see later in other jobs. Career-wise, Ennovar has helped me by giving me enterprise experience with the help desk, learning real-world solutions to problems, and seeing what scope I might be doing in my future,” he explains.
Looking ahead, Connor aspires to become a system administrator, a goal sparked by his enjoyment of managing his home lab. “I’ve had a lot of fun just setting up my home lab and adding services to it,” he says.
One of Connor’s favorite aspects of Ennovar is the camaraderie and collaboration among coworkers. “I like that I can count on my coworkers to help me with tickets when I don’t know or, if they don’t know, to figure it out with me,” he explains.
When he’s not solving tech issues, Connor manages a home lab that includes two servers and a NAS. “Some of the services I have include a single sign-on for computers, photo and file backups, hosting game servers, and other web services,” he says. In the future, he hopes to expand his home lab’s capabilities to better manage his house's network and provide services to friends and family.
